NORFOLK, Va., April 28, 2026 – The 2026 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Championship field is officially set, with Howard University earning the top seed after a dominate regular season.  

Howard closed out conference play with an 18-3 mark and enters the tournament with a 25-17 overall record. Earning a first-round bye, the Bison will face the winner of the No. 4 vs. No. 5 game at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6. 

Delaware State secured the No. 2 seed after posting a 26-16 overall record and going 15-6 in MEAC play. The Hornets also receive a first-round bye and will open their tournament run at 8 p.m. on May 6 against the winner of the No. 3 vs. No. 6 game. 

South Carolina State claimed the No. 3 seed following a strong turnaround season, finishing 12-9 in conference play. They will face No. 6 seed Coppin State, which enters the tournament with an 8-25 overall record and a 7-14 mark in MEAC competition. The first pitch for that matchup is set for 2 p.m. on May 6. 

Norfolk State earned the No. 4 seed with a 22-19 overall record and a 12-9 conference mark. The Spartans will take on No. 5 seed Morgan State, which closed out the regular season at 9-12 in conference play, in the tournament's opening game at 11 a.m. on May 6. 

The 2026 MEAC Softball Championship will be held May 6–9 at the TowneBank Softball Field on the campus of Norfolk State University. Fans can follow all the action and get updates through the MEAC Softball Championship Central page.
