NORFOLK, Va., –   South Carolina State freshman outfielder Lanasia Sanders has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week, the league announced.

Sanders (Fr., OF, Walterboro, S.C.) batted a .571 with an RBI and a run scored, helping South Carolina State to a series sweep over Coppin State. 

Others earning honors were, Howard senior Maryn Jordan was named MEAC Softball Player of the Week, while Norfolk State's Maddy Morris was recognized as pitcher of the Week. 

    Other Top Performers   

• Lashea Morlu (SCSU) batted .583 with seven hits, including a home run and a triple, while driving in four RBI. 
• Ciara Farrar (SCSU) tallied a 0.78 ERA over 9.0 innings over two games. 
• Aiko Conaway (HOW) 2-0 with a 1.70 ERA and tossing a complete-game shutout in a series sweep of Delaware State 
• Millie Cousins (MSU) led the Bears with 14 strikeouts across 19.2 innings on the week. 
• Kendal Daniels (NCCU) hit .375 with three RBI and two runs scored across three games for the Eagles. 
• Emily Gunther (UMES) went 6-for-9 at the plate against Norfolk State, scoring three runs with one RBI and two doubles in the series. 
• Madeline Janssen (NCCU) went 1-1 on the week, throwing 8.1 innings with a 4.20 ERA against Morgan State. 
• Na'khia Lee (HOW) went 5-for-7 (.571) at the plate, driving in a run and scoring once during Howard's weekend series against Delaware State. 
• Hunter Newman (MSU) batted .538 with two home runs, five RBI, and six runs scored, helping Morgan State to a 4-1 record on the week. 
• Bristyl Riddick (NSU) posted a .545 batting average with 11 hits, six runs scored, and five RBI over the weekend.  
• Tyler Suttles (NCCU) hit .556 with seven RBI and five runs scored across three games for the Eagles.
