Morlu Earns MEAC Softball POW Honors

NORFOLK, Va.,  – South Carolina State sophomore Lashea Morlu has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week the league announced.

Morlu (So., P/OF, Hendersonville, NC) helped lead South Carolina State to a 3–0 week, posting seven hits, five runs scored and a triple against Morgan State while batting .778. She also added three stolen bases and finished the series with a 1.000 on-base percentage and zero strikeouts. 

Other honors were  Norfolk State's McKaley Kohn earned Rookie of the Week honors. Maryland Eastern Shore's Dani Brown was recognized as the Pitcher of the Week. 
    
Other Top Performers   
  • Millie Cousins (MSU) recorded six strikeouts during the week. She also contributed offensively, batting .428 (3-for-7) with a double, two runs scored, and a walk. 
  • Zaena Harris (SCSU) earned a complete-game victory over Morgan State, allowing one run on five hits with two strikeouts across seven innings. 
  • Dallas Hill(SCSU) hit a two-run homerun along with finishing with a pair of homeruns in a 3-0 MEAC series win over Morgan State.
  • Madeline Janssen (NCCU) posted a 2-1 record with a 2.02 ERA across 17.1 innings. She finished the week with six strikeouts and three walks while helping NCCU secure two wins. 
  • Maya Johnson (NSU) hit .417 (5-for-12) with four runs scored and six RBI, highlighted by two home runs during the week.  
  • Mianna Lopez Del Haro (DSU) recorded a strong weekend at the plate against Norfolk State, collecting six hits with four RBI and two runs scored across the three-game series. 
  • Araceli Manzo (UMES) went 5-for-9 with four RBI during the Hawks' series against Howard. 
  • Maddy Morris (NSU) totaled a 2.76 ERA in 12.2 innings, highlighted by a complete-game victory against Delaware State.  
  • Mia De La Fuente (NCCU) batted .500 (5-for-10) with seven RBI and a double, helping lead NCCU to a three-game sweep of Coppin State.  
  • Skylar Skinner (UMES) batted .278 (5-for-18) during the week with three runs scored, four RBI, two home runs, a triple and a double.
