NORFOLK, Va., May 7, 2024 – The 2024 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Championship Tournament begins on Wednesday, May 8, with game one beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the NSU Softball Field on the campus of Norfolk State University.
The MEAC Softball Championship Tournament features six teams in a double-elimination tournament over four days culminating in the championship game on Saturday, May 11, which will broadcast live on ESPN+.
Action begins with the four-five pairing of No. 4 North Carolina Central versus No. 5 South Carolina State taking the field at 9:00 a.m. for game one.
Following the first game is the three-six matchup of No. 3 Coppin State facing off against No. 6 Maryland Eastern Shore at 12 p.m.
The winner of game one between NCCU and SCSU will go head-to-head with the top seeded Lady Bears of Morgan State at 3 p.m., while the final game of the day will pit the winner of game two, CSU or UMES, versus the No. 2 seed Howard at 6 p.m.
Thursday will see the first teams eliminated from the 2024 Softball Championship Tournament as the non-advancing teams from games 2 and 3 will compete at 12 p.m., while the non-advancing teams from games 1 and 4 will play at 3 p.m. The day will conclude with the two winning teams from games 3 and 4 squaring off at 6 p.m. with the winning team moving on to championship day.
Friday's games are slated for 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. while Saturday's championship game is set for 12 p.m. with the if necessary game to follow at 3 p.m.
