Box Score 3 SPARTANBURG, SC—The South Carolina State softball team came up short over the weekend with losses to Loyola University (5-13), Towson (1-10) and host USC-Upstate (1-7) in the Spartan Classic held at Cyrill Stadium.
The Lady Bulldogs fall to 0-3 to open the season.
Game 1: Loyola defeated SC State 13-5. SCSU earned five runs on the day from
Madison Boyd with two runs,
Taylor Ames-Alexander, Camron Hall with one run scored each.
DeAsia Lowther was the losing pitcher.
Game 2: In game 2 on the day Towson knocked off the Lady Bulldogs 10-1. The only run scored was Munyan Kauree.
Game 3: In the final game 3 host USC-Upstate defeated SC State 7-1 to close out tourney play.
Taylor Ames-Alexander posted the only run of the day. Lowther was the losing pitcher fall to 0-2 during the weekend.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State will compete in the HBCU Tournament Feb. 16-18 in Covington, GA. Teams participating are Jackson State, Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Prairie View A&M, Grambling State and South Carolina State.
