Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ORANGEBURG, SC---The South Carolina State softball team won in dramatic fashion posting an, 9-8, victory over visiting Savannah State Saturday (April. 28^th) at the Lady Bulldog Softball Field.

The Lady Bulldogs avoided a series sweep after dropping a tough 11-1 defeat in the first game of a doubleheader.

SSU jumped out early in the second game scoring five unanswered runs to take a 5-1 lead early in the first inning. The Lady Bulldogs scored three runs in the second inning to cut the lead to 6-4.  Twelve (12) hits by South Carolina State and just one error gave the Lady Bulldogs the motivation they needed to push ahead for a 9-8 victory over the Lady Tigers of Savannah State.

"I am just proud of the way the team responded being down 6-1 early in the second inning, "said SC State head coach Cheretta Stevenson. "It's been a rough year but to finish in a close game against a very well coached Savannah State gives you that extra motivation moving forward."

South Carolina State improves to 2-30 overall, 2-12 in the MEAC, while Savannah State falls 12-21 overall, 9-10 in the league.

South Carolina State will wrap of the final game of a three-game series Sunday (April 29^th) in a 12 noon showdown.
