Box Score ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs fell short of a series sweep with a 7-6 loss to the visiting Aggies of North Carolina A&T State Sunday (Mar. 26) at the Lady Bulldogs Softball Field.
South Carolina State (2-25 overall, 2-1 in the MEAC) posted an impressive sweep in a league doubleheader Saturday, with 6-3, 5-4 wins over North Carolina A&T.
The Aggies once again jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. N.C. A&T looked as though they had the game under control after scoring two more runs in the second to move ahead 5-0 over SC State.
The Lady Bulldogs responded after being down 2-5, with three unanswered runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game 5-5. The Aggies closed the gap down the stretch with a single hit by Talisha Jenkins giving Alexandria Simmons the go ahead run to put North Carolina A&T ahead in the top of the seventh inning.
The Aggies would hold to claim a 7-6 win and avoid a series sweep to the Lady Bulldogs of South Carolina State. North Carolina A&T improves to 8-19-1 overall, 1-2 in the MEAC.
South Carolina State returns to action on next weekend when they host league foe Florida A&M in a pivotal Mid-Easter Athletic battle at Lady Bulldog Softball Field. First pitch for the doubleheader is 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. start for the second one.
