Softball Team Host Bethune-Cookman In Think Pink Game

ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State softball team will host Bethune-Cookman in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday (April.16) in it's annual "Think Pink" game at the Lady Bulldog Field . First pitch is at 2 p.m., followed by a 4 p.m. start for the second contest.

Debra Wanamaker-Johnson, a breast cancer survivor, will throw out the first pitch in the "Think Pink" game.

Wannamaker-Johnson is the current International Education Coordinator for SC State's Office of International and National Student Exchange Programs.   She is a member of the University's staff senate and a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.  She is also an alumna of the university, where she received both a bachelor's and master's degree.

Mrs. Wanamaker-Johnson was diagnosed with stage III estrogen-receptive breast cancer in 2006.  After two surgeries and extensive rounds of chemotherapy, she is celebrating her 10th year of complete remission and is enjoying a cancer-free life.

Mrs. Wanamaker-Johnson lives by the mottos, "There is no respect for others without humility in one's self", and "God blesses us to be a blessing to others".

The Lady Bulldogs will close out the three-game series with Bethune-Cookman Sunday in a 12 noon showdown.
