Box Score CLINTON, S.C. – The South Carolina State softball team fell 9-5 at Presbyterian College on Wednesday afternoon at the Presbyterian College Softball Complex.
Presbyterian (10-8) led 2-0 after the first two innings, but SC State (2-9) got on the board in the top of the third on an RBI single to left center field by Ciana Burt that scored
Deanna Sullivan.
The Blue Hose picked up a run in the bottom of the fourth and the Lady Bulldogs added one more in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly by
Kaneisha Pettiford to bring the score to 3-2.
Down 4-2 heading into the top of the sixth inning, the Lady Bulldogs exploded for three runs to take a 5-4 lead.
Jada Richardson doubled to right center field to score
Jasmine Greer and
Keirra Cromer and then Richardson got home safely on Burt's RBI double to left center.
SC State's lead was short-lived though. Presbyterian posted five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to put the game out of reach for SC State.
Burt finished with three hits in four at bats and two RBI. Sullivan was 2-for-4, while Greer was 1-for-3 with two runs and two walks and Richardson was 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
The Lady Bulldogs host Maryland Eastern Shore in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday beginning at 2 p.m.
