Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga. – The South Carolina State softball team ended the 2015 season with a 5-4 loss at Savannah State on Sunday afternoon at Lady Tiger Field.
 
SC State concludes the season with an 8-28 overall record and a 2-13 mark in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play. The Lady Bulldogs are currently sixth in the MEAC Southern Division standings. Only the top four teams from each division qualify for the conference tournament.
 
Savannah State (20-15, 13-1 MEAC) led 4-0 after the first six innings. But the Lady Bulldogs scored four runs in the top of the seventh to make things interesting. Charmaine Oden pinch hit for Tamaya McQueary to lead off the inning and doubled to right field. McQueary re-entered the game and Tiara Lovejoy reached on a Lady Tiger catching error. Unique Whitehurst followed with a single through the right side that scored both McQueary and Lovejoy. Deanna Sullivan was next and blasted a two-run home run to left field to tie the game at 4-all. The rally ended there, however, as Savannah State got three straight outs the end the inning.
 
The Lady Tigers won the game on an RBI single by Brianna Harris with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.
 
Whitehurst was 4-for-4 with two RBI and a run, while Sullivan went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a homer. Ashley Eichenlaub picked up the win after giving up 10 hits and four earned runs in seven innings of work.
 
Jareece Sayles ended the season with a 6-16 record. In her final outing of the 2015 season, she allowed 11 hits and five earned runs in six and two-third innings.
