Box Score 2 DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The South Carolina State softball team dropped two Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference games on Friday at Bethune-Cookman. The Lady Bulldogs fell 8-0 in the first game and then 22-1 in the night cap.
SC State (5-16, 0-5 MEAC) managed five hits in the first game, but left eight runners stranded en route to being shut out.
Jareece Sayles fell to 3-10 on the season after pitching five innings in which she gave up nine hits and eight runs (six earned) and stuck out one batter.
In the second game, Bethune-Cookman (9-24, 2-0 MEAC) led 13-0 after the first three innings. The Lady Bulldogs' only run of the day came in the top of the fifth inning when
Jasmine Harris scored on a
Mikala Johnson's walk with the bases loaded. Harris had two of SC State's seven hits in the game.
Keirra Cromer suffered the loss in game two after allowing 14 hits, 12 runs (10 earned) and walking two in one inning of work.
Cecily Ruiz made an appearance in relief. She gave up nine hits and 10 runs in three innings.
The teams conclude the series tomorrow with a single game at noon.
