ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The South Carolina State softball team begins its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference schedule when it hosts North Carolina A&T in a three game series this weekend at Lady Bulldog Field. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. and there will be a single game on Sunday that starts at 12 p.m.
The Lady Bulldogs (5-11) dropped a pair of games to Gardner-Webb on Thursday.
Mikala Johnson is the team's top hitter with a .389 batting average. In the pitching circle,
Jareece Sayles 3-7 with a 4.20 earned run average, while Keirra Cromer is 2-2 (4.15 ERA) and
Cecily Ruiz is 0-1 (2.0 ERA).
NC A&T is 7-16 on the season and is on a four-game losing streak after falling in doubleheaders against Western Carolina and Hampton. Kaelyn Moore leads the team with a .435 batting average and a .567 on base percentage. Maiven McKnight and Janika May make up the Aggies pitching staff. McKnight is 4-8 with a 4.52 ERA, while May is 3-8 with a 7.92 ERA.
