FAMU EDGE SC STATE IN SERIES SWEEP

Box Score  TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –The South Carolina State women's softball team suffered an, 5-4, heartbreaking defeat to Florida A&M to close out the series sweep 3-0 Sunday afternoon at the Lady Rattler Softball Field.

The game was all tied 4-4 before , Raven Moseley's two-out, RBI double scored Brielle Gordon with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the FAMU to victory over South Carolina State.

 The win increased FAMU's hold on second place in the MEAC Southern Division at 7-4 (19-25 overall), trailing only archrival Bethune-Cookman (10-2, 20-28), while South Carolina State (10-25, 3-9 in MEAC) remained in fifth place with the heartbreaking loss, leaving them out of tournament contention with one week left in the regular season.

SC State's Vianney Gomez (6-13) went the distance in taking the loss, allowing five runs on 12 hits with two strikeouts and three walks in six and two-thirds innings.

South Carolina State will close out the regular season on Saturday in a three-game series against Savannah State at the Lady Bulldog Softball Field.  SC State will also hold "Senior Day" to honor three Lady Bulldogs who will play their final collegiate softball game during the series.

First pitch begins at 1 p.m., followed by the second game in a 3 p.m. start. SC State will wrap up the series on Sunday in a 12 noon showdown.
