Orangeburg, S.C.—The SC State softball fell to Florida A&M, 2-0 (0-4, 0-3), in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) doubleheader this past Saturday (Apr. 27).  With the losses the Lady Bulldogs dropped to 16-24 overall and 4-7 in the MEAC while Florida A&M improved to 17-29 overall and 8-3 in the MEAC.  The third game of the series scheduled for Sunday (Apr. 28) was rained out.

Over the course of the doubleheader, SC State could not find any offense as they had just three total hits in two games.  FAMU, however, managed 14 hits including a two-run homerun over the course of the doubleheader.

Vianney Gomez and Jazmin Robinson were the losing pitchers for SC State while Jennifer Lindsey and Ashleigh Minter were the winners in Games One and Two, respectively.

Despite the losses, SC State is still in contention for a berth in the 2013 MEAC Softball Championships, which will be contested in Ormond Beach, Fla. May 9-11.  To ensure they qualify for the tournament, the Lady Bulldogs will have to take two-of-three games from Savannah State, whom they meet this weekend Saturday-Sunday, May 4-5, when they travel to Savannah, Ga.

Game Notes:  Prior to Saturday's doubleheader the women's softball team honored its senior member.  Eight members of the Lady Bulldog team were honored during the pre-game ceremony.
