Box Score
Durham, NC (Apr. 14)--After splitting a conference double-header on Sat (Apr 13), SC State defeated North Carolina Central University (NCCU), 5-3, on Sunday (Apr. 14) to win the rubber game and capture the three-game conference series, 2-1.

SC State (16-18, 4-5 MEAC), got on the scoreboard first as junior Tiffany Harris led off the third inning with a single across the pitcher mound.  She would eventually score her the first run off a wild pitch.  NCCU bounced back quickly putting up a run in their half of the third inning when Angelique Perricelli hit a double before scoring off a single by Nadia Jefferies.  The score would remain knotted up over the next inning. The Lady Bulldogs put up two runs off two hits and one Lady Eagle error to take the 3-1 advantage heading into the bottom of the fifth.  NCCU pulled within run in its half of the fifth after Mae'Risha Watts managed to beat the throw at home.  Harris homered to left field to lead off the seventh inning to give the Lady Bulldogs an insurance run.  The Lady Eagles could not get one across the plate in the bottom of the seventh, hence falling in the game by two 5-3.

Harris, who was three-for-three on the day, led the team offensively with three runs one RBI.  Senior Taylor-Anne Harris contributed two hits and two RBI's in the contest.  Junior pitcher Vianney Gomez picked up her second win on the weekend.

NCCU had three players to score runs.  In addition to Watts and Perricelli, Camille Hampton also scored one run for the Lady Eagles who fell to 3-33 overall and 1-7 in the MEAC.  London Booker was the losing pitcher for NCCU.

The Lady Bulldogs will host the College of Charleston, tomorrow, April 16 in a 1 p.m. non-conference double-header.  SC State will host Furman in its final non-conference double-header next Wednesday, Apr. 24 at 1 p.m. before closing out their home season next weekend (Friday-Saturday, April 27-28) when they host Florida A&M in a MEAC three-game series.  All remaining home games will be played at the Lady Bulldog Softball Field on the campus of SC State.
