SC State Softball Resume Play at College of Charleston

SC State Softball Travels to College of Charelston on Tuesday
Orangeburg, S.C.-- After sweeping Benedict College 15-2 and 5-1 in a non-conference double header on Friday (Feb.15) , SC State will hit the road to take on College of Charleston tomorrow, (Tuesday, Feb. 19) in a non-conference double-header match up.

SC State, who sits at 7-1 overall, is led by Junior Ace Vianney Gomez who is the reigning Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week. Gomez takes a .53 ERA into tomorrow's contest. The Lady Bulldogs is led in hitting by Mikala Johnson and Kourtney Paulo with batting averages of .458 and .429, respectively. Senior Shannon Baity and Johnson are playing solid defensively with fielding percentages of .98 and .92, respectively.  As a team, SC State is batting .290 with a .95 fielding percent.

College of Charleston brings a 2-3 overall record into tomorrow's contest.  Kelsey Hodgson is batting .308 while Maples Mackenzie is batting .273 for the Cougars who is batting .183 as a team.  Hodgson and Mackenzie each are perfect in the field at 100 percent.

The Lady Bulldogs will return to home on Sunday, Feb. 24), when they host St. Augustine's College in a non-conference double-header.  SC State will then play its rescheduled game with Anderson on Tuesday, Feb. 26.  Both games are set for a 1 p.m. first pitch at the Lady Bulldog Softball Field on the campus of SC State.
