Orangeburg, S.C.--The SC State women's softball team defeated North Carolina Central (NCCU), 2-1, to complete the sweep of the Lady Eagles in the three-game Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) series.

NCCU got on the board first, scoring one run in the opening inning of the game. SC State rebounded in the bottom of the second as they scored the tying run off a passed ball. A throwing error by the Lady Eagles third baseman in the bottom of the fourth allowed SC State to score the go ahead run. After a strong defensive stance by both teams in the fifth and sixth innings, NCCU's offense came back to life. With one runner on and two outs in the top of the seventh, the Lady Eagles placed its next two runners on base via walk and single, respectively, to load the bases. The Lady Bulldogs managed to fight off NCCU's seventh inning threat, as a dynamic catch by the Lady Bulldogs centerfielder Tiffany Harris took away a potential grand-slam by the Lady Eagles' Cember Carmichael to give SC State the 2-1 victory and the conference sweep of NCCU.

Sophomore pitcher Vianney Gomez picked up her third victory of the weekend. Bianka Molina was the loser in the contest.

SC State will have 12 days off from competition before traveling to Tallahassee, Fla. Saturday-Sunday, Apr. 28-29 to take on Florida A&M in a MEAC three-game series. The Lady Bulldogs will close out its regular season the weekend of May 5-6, when they host Savannah State in a MEAC three-game series.
