SC State Goes 1-2 at Tiny Laster’s 5th Annual Tournament

Conyers, Ga. (March 3-4)--The SC State women's softball team finished 1-2 over the weekend at the Tiny Laster's 5th Annual Tournament.  The Lady Bulldogs went 0-1 on Day One of the tournament and 1-1 on Day Two of the Tournament which was played at the Earl O'Neal Park in Conyers, Ga.

 

Day One of the competition saw SC State fall to Mississippi Valley State University, 8-1, in its opening game.  In the contest, Kandyce Ranew and Arziné Lee produce one hit each while Tiffany Harris scored SC State's lone run in the game.

 

SC State opened the second day of competition with a 5-3 win over Alabama A&M.  Lee led the attack with two runs off three hits from the leadoff spot.  Harris had one run off two hits and Mikala Johnson and LaTavia Riley each recorded two hits in the game.  Kelsey Grochow scored the Lady Bulldogs third run in the ball game.

 

After picking up the win earlier in the day, SC State dropped its final game of the tournament, falling to fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) foe Savannah State, 10-2.  Lee continued to play solid recording two hits in the game.  Ranew and Grochow each scored one run in the loss.

 

 The Lady Bulldogs will host Norfolk on Thursday (March 8) at 1 p.m.  The non-conference double-header will be played on the newly renovated Lady Bulldog Field on the campus of SC State.
