SC State Women Softball Goes 3-2 During Opening Weekend

Orangeburg, S.C.—The SC State women's softball team finished 3-2 during the opening weekend of the 2012 season.  The Lady Bulldogs, who participated in the 2012 Hampton Jordan Classic hosted by Claflin University, went 1-1 on Day One of the tournament and SC State women's softball went 2-1 Day Two of the Tournament.

Day One of the competition saw SC State fall to Winston-Salem State, 3-9, in its opening game.  The Lady Bulldogs would not hang their heads as they came from 4-1 down to defeat Brewton-Parker, 5-4, in its second game on the day. 

SC State opened the second day of competition with a 17-5 win over Davis & Elkins.  After dropping its second game of the day to Clark-Atlanta, 3-9, the Lady Bulldogs bounced back with a 14-3 victory over Virginia Union to close out the Tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs will open its 2012 home campaign next Saturday, Feb. 18 at 12 noon when they host Morgan State University in a non-conference double-header.  The contest will be played on the newly renovated Lady Bulldog Field on the campus of SC State.
