SC State Falls to College of Charleston in a Non-Conference Doubleheader

Baity scored the only Bulldog run on the day
Orangeburg, SC—The SC State women's softball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader to the College of Charleston, (4-1; 12-0). The matchup was contested at Hillcrest Field in Orangeburg which is the temporary home of the Lady Bulldogs.

In Game One College of Charleston (10-5) came out aggressively putting up two runs in the first inning. SC State (0-18) put its defense to work, holding the Cougars scoreless over the next four innings. College of Charleston managed two additional runs in the top of the six while allowing just one by the Lady Bulldogs in the bottom of the seventh en route to the 4-1 Game One Victory.

College of Charleston struck first again in Game Two, putting up one run in the opening inning of the game. SC State's defense appeared to be working on all cylinders until the top of the fifth inning when the Cougars put up five runs to increase its lead to 5-0. College of Charleston had a monster sixth inning, putting up seven runs to take a 12-0 advantage heading into the bottom of the sixth. The Lady Bulldogs could not find any offense in its half of the inning as they fell to the Cougars by the 12 run margin.

Alexa Dotka and Stephanie Saylors picked up the win for the Cougars, while Raven Johnson and Vianney Gomez were the losers for the Lady Bulldogs in Game One and Two respectively.
SC State will return back to action next Thursday, March 10 when they host Youngstown State in a non-conference double-header. First pitch is set for 12 noon Hillcrest Field in Orangeburg.
