SC State Swings Past Savannah State, 11-0, in Women’s Softball

So., Johnson had four striekouts in the 11-0 victory
Box Score

Savannah, GA—
The SC State women's softball team cruised past Savannah State, 11-0, in a non-conference softball game. The game, which is the first-of-three between the teams over two days, was contested at Paulsen Park in Savannah, Ga.

SC State (5-28) made an easy go of the things as they scored in four-of-five innings played. The Lady Bulldogs scored four runs in the first, one each in the second and third, and five in the fifth en route to the 11-0 victory. SC State's defense was equally as strong, as they allowed just two Savannah State (15-19) base runners (one in the fourth and one in the fifth inning).

The Lady Bulldogs had three players to record multiple runs as Denitia Carter, Arziné Lee and Channel Thompson each scored two runs in the contest. Sophomore Raven Johnson picked up the win for the Lady Bulldogs. In nine batters faced, Johnson had four strikeouts, no hits and no walks. Cassie Standard was the loser in the contest.

SC State will face these same Lady Tigers in a non-conference double-header tomorrow beginning at 2 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs will return home this Saturday-Sunday, April 17-18, when they host Norfolk State in a MEAC Conference three-game series. First pitch for Saturday's double-header is set for 1 p.m. while Sunday's single game is set for a 12 noon start.
