Orangeburg, SC—The SC State women's softball team could not find any offense as they dropped a non-conference doubleheader to the College of Charleston, (8-0; 12-1). The matchup was contested at the Lady Bulldog Field on the campus of SC State.
College of Charleston (11-16) put up runs in four-of-the-five innings in Game One. The Cougars scored two runs in the second, two in the third, three runs in the fourth and one run fifth inning. SC State (3-21) managed to get runners on base pads in all five inning but could not get any across falling 8-0 in Game One.
College of Charleston jumped out to a 9-0 by the middle of the first inning in Game Two. SC State put up one run in the bottom of the second while holding the Cougars scoreless through the next two innings. The Cougars put up one additional run in the top of the fourth and two in the top of the fifth en route to the 12-1 Game Two victory.
Alexa Dotka and Stephanie Saylors picked up the win for the Cougars, while Arzine Lee and Raven Johnson were the losers for the Lady Bulldogs in Game One and Two respectively.
SC State will return back to action this Friday-Saturday, April 2-3, when they host North Carolina A&T in their 2010 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opening series. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. on Friday and 12 noon on Saturday at the Lady Bulldog softball field.
