SC State Goes 0-2 on Day Two of Lady Pirates Classic

Lady Bulldogs Eliminated From Tournament

Virginia Beach, VA—The SC State softball team fell to Winston-Salem State and the University of Buffalo on day two of the Lady Pirates Classic. The losses today eliminated the Lady Bulldogs from the tournament which concludes tomorrow.
 
In game one of the day, SC State (3-13) fell behind Winston-Salem State, 1-0, by the end of the first inning. The Lady Bulldogs tied the game in the top of the fourth inning as a RBI single by freshman Jasmine Dunston allowed sophomore Tonya Giles to score. The teams remained tied through next two and half innings before the Lady Rams' Kendall Sutton hit a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the seventh to secure the 2-1 victory over the Lady Bulldogs.
 
Game two of the day belonged to the University Buffalo as they defeated SC State 8-0. The Bulls scored one run in the top of the first, two in the second, one in the fifth, three in the sixth and one in the seventh innings for its eight runs.
 
Raven Johnson and Kimberlee Pereira had the losses for SC State in game one and game two respectively. Amber Shore picked up the win for Winston-Salem State while Sharon Barr the University of Buffalo.
 
The Lady Bulldogs will have six days off before traveling to Greensboro, NC next weekend to open its 2009 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference season versus the Lady Aggies of North Carolina A&T.
