Orangeburg, SC—The SC State softball team will travel to Virginia this weekend to participate in the 2009 Lady Pirates Classic. The tournament, which is hosted by Hampton University, will be played at the Princess Anne Sports Complex in Virginia Beach, Va. on Friday-Saturday, March 20-21. The championship game (s) on Sunday, March 22 will be played on the campus of Hampton University in Hampton, Va.
SC State, who enters to tournament with a 2-11 overall record, will open the tournament on Friday at 2 p.m. against Howard University. The Lady Bulldogs will then face host Hampton University in a 4 p.m. contest on Friday. SC State Saturday and Sunday contests will be contingent on how they finish their first two contests on Friday.
Note: The Lady Bulldogs double-header against North Carolina Central that was scheduled for this past Tuesday was rescheduled to Tuesday, April 28, due to inclement weather.
