Women's Softball

Orangeburg, SC – The South Carolina State women's softball team dropped a double-header to the inter-state foe Furman University, losing 14-5 and 10-1, in a non-conference match-up at Lady Bulldog Field.

In Game One Furman (6-13) scored in all but two innings. The Paladins put up two runs in the second, one run in the third and three runs in the fourth before SC State could get any offense going. SC State (2-11) put up three runs in the bottom of the fourth to pull within three of the Paladins. Furman put up three runs in the top of the fifth and five runs in the top seventh inning while SC State could manage just two additional runs, hence falling to Furman 14-5 in Game One.

Game Two belonged to Furman, as they scored in four of five innings. The Paladins put up two runs in the second, three runs in the third, four runs in the fourth and one run in the fifth inning. SC State's lone run came in the bottom of the fourth inning giving the Paladins the 10-1 victory in Game Two.

Stephanie Mihaly was the winner in Game One and Bethany Ulrich picked up the win in Game Two. Hannah Bradley picked up the save in Game One. Raven Johnson was the loser in both games.

South Carolina State will travel to Durham, NC to face the Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University this Tuesday, March 17. The Lady Bulldogs will then travel to Hampton, Va., next weekend to participate in the Hampton University Tournament.
