SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS (1-5 overall, 0-0 MEAC)
  • South Carolina State University's women's basketball team has had a challenging start to the 2024-2025 season with a 1-5 record, including a 1-4 record at home and a 0-1 record on the road.
  • The Bulldogs come into the contest averaging 46.5 points per game while allowing opponents 63.2 points, creating a scoring margin of under 16.7.
  • Offensively, the team struggles with shooting efficiency, converting 32.1 percent from the field and only 18.5 percent from beyond the arc, with just 2.0 three-pointers made per game.
  • Free-throw shooting is slightly better for the Bulldogs at 65.4 percent, averaging 14.5 made free throws per game.
  • Key players to watch include Angie Juste-Jean, who is leading the team with 14.7 points per game on an impressive 61.9 percent shooting from the field and an 81.0 free-throw percentage. Jada Morgan contributes 7.5 points per game and has been one of the team's most durable players, appearing in all six games.
  • Defensively, Taniya McGowan and Monajah Ford are active, with both McGowan and Ford leading South Carolina State in steals (8).
  • Norfolk State tied with Howard as the preseason favorites to finish first with 117 points each. The two-time reigning MEAC champions, Norfolk State, racked up 11 of 16 first-place votes. Coppin State was predicted to finish third with 79 points, with a one-point separation from tying North Carolina Central in fourth place. Morgan State and Maryland Eastern Shore were picked to finish fifth and sixth, respectively, with Delaware State and South Carolina State rounding out the predicted order of finish.
