WASHINGTON, DC—The South Carolina State Bulldogs (8-1 overall, 6-0 MEAC) pull within one game from their second-straight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference title defeating Howard 43-13 at Green Stadium. Senior Will Ford led the Bulldogs with 16 rushes for 108 yards and one touchdown.

Newark, NJ – A historic soccer season at South Carolina State ended Friday (Nov. 6) with a 2-1 lost to Houston Baptist in first-round action of the Great West Conference Soccer Championship at NJIT. Second-year head coach Glad Bugariu’s team finished the year 10-7-3.

ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State bowling team opens its 2009-10 campaign Saturday (Nov. 7) at the two-day MEAC Southern Division competition at Winston-Salem, NC. The event will be one of five the Lady Bulldogs will play this season, under second-year head coach Lorra Bailey.

Tallahassee, FL—The SC State women’s volleyball team fell to Florida A&M University, 0-3, (22-25, 23-25, 9-25), in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) match-up in the Al Lawson Center on the campus of Florida A&M University. With the loss the Lady Bulldogs fall to 12-16 overall and 3-3 in the MEAC while the Lady Rattlers improve to 12-8 overall and remain perfect in the MEAC at 6-0.

 ORANGEBURG, SC – The longtime South Carolina State basketball public address announcer has died. Dr. Robert E. “Wag” Howard, 89, died at his Orangeburg residence Tuesday (Nov. 3) night, following an extended illness.

PINE HURST, NC – The South Carolina State women’s golf team carded a 332 Tuesday (Nov. 3) to shave 11 strokes off its first-round total, however, the Lady Bulldogs were unable to climb in the standings in finishing 15th at the Pine Hurst Fall Challenge played at the Pine Hurst No. 6 course. The Lady Bulldogs finished the event with a 36-hole total (343-332) of 675.

PRINCESS ANNE, MD – South Carolina State sophomore Brittney Stewart, by virtue of a Top 15 Finish at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship Saturday (Oct. 31) at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, has earned a spot on the league’s All-MEAC Cross Country Team.
