MALCOLM LONG (Football 2007-2011) a native of Gaffney, SC was one of the most outstanding quarterbacks in South Carolina State football history and among the top signal callers in all the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).

PERSONAL: Earned a bachelor's in Physical Activity Management from SC State in 2013…Also had an outstanding high school career…was the 2006 Palmetto State "Mr. Football" …MVP in North-South All-Star Game…Led Gaffney High to 23 straight wins and back-to-back Class 4-A Div 1 State Championships...Is the current Athletics Director in Cherokee County…Previously coached football in his hometown of Gaffney, where he is also minister.
The Department of Athletics will highlight a former student-athlete from the past who made major contributions during their tenure at the university.
