Box Score NORFOLK, VA---The South Carolina State women's basketball team dropped their second straight league contest on the road in an, 49-63, loss to Norfolk State Monday (Feb.19^th) at Echols Hall.

South Carolina State falls to 9-16 overall, 4-9 in the MEAC, while Norfolk State improves to 16-9 overall, 9-4 in the league.

Bryeasha Blair led the Lady Bulldogs with a game-high 19 points and five rebounds, while junior guard Kemoni Jenkins added 11 points and eight rebounds in the loss. Junior forward Jasmine Williams provided that extra push in the front court with 10 rebounds.

Despite the loss, South Carolina State led in several categories including rebounding (50-44), points off turnovers (22-8), 2^nd chance points (10-7).

The game was tied 27-27 during intermission.

The Lady Spartans took a four-point lead in the third quarter off a jumper by Khadedra Croker with 6:15 remaining. Blair's driving layup with 0:41 seconds left tied the game 38-38 for the eighth time. Raven Russell closed out the quarter with a layup to push NSU ahead 40-38.

NSU took full control of the fourth quarter jumping to a 15-point lead, 59-44, off a pair of free-throws by Armani Franklin with 2:08 remaining in regulation.

Norfolk State shot 80% (20-of-25) from the charity stripe to hold on to a 63-49 victory.

Kayla Roberts led the way for the Lady Spartans with the games only double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds, Russell added 12 points and seven rebounds in the win.

South Carolina State return to action on a (Feb. 24^th) at home when they host N.C. Central in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tip-off is 2 p.m. for the women, with the men following in an 4 p.m. start.
