CLEMSON, SC—The South Carolina State women's basketball team returns to action on Sunday (Dec.18) when they take on host Clemson at Littlejohn Coliseum. Tipoff is 2 p.m.
THE SERIES: Clemson holds a 16-4 lead over the Lady Bulldogs and a 12-2 advantage in games played in Littlejohn Coliseum. The last meeting between the two teams, Clemson defeated SC State 63-54 on Dec. 2, 2015 in Jervey Gym on Clemson's campus.
LAST TIMEOUT: South Carolina State (3-5) dropped a tough 63-54 loss to Coastal Carolina on Friday (Dec.16) at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
Bryeasha Blair scored a game-high 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting from the floor and played all 40 minutes for SC State (3-5).
Dashanique Peterson had a game- and career-high 12 rebounds and added seven points.
The Lady Bulldogs are led in scoring by with 19.9 points per game. Junior
Brittany Drumgoole adds 11.9, while
Jahmia Bradley chips in 9.8 points on the season. Bradley and sophomore forward
JaQuanna Murray (7.6 ppg) are the leaders on the boards with 4.8 rebounds per outing.
Meanwhile, Clemson (8-2) is coming off an 83-61 loss to No. 6/6 South Carolina in Columbia on Thursday (Dec. 15.) Four Tigers were in double figures in the game, led by junior Nelly Perry with 20 points. Perry leads the Tigers in scoring (14.3 ppg), assists (3.6 apg) and minutes played (32.7 mpg). Sophomore Danielle Edwards is averaging 3.1 steals per game, and second in scoring (9.9 ppg) and minutes played (30.9 mpg). Sophomore Aliyah Collier leads the team in rebounding with 6.9 rpg.
