Jennings and Harrison Lead Tigers Over Bulldogs, 77-41

Bulldogs drop sixth-straight contest

Box Score CLEMSON, SC—Senior forward Milton Jennings and sophomore  Demarcus Harrison tossed in 15 points each Sunday to lead Clemson to a 77-41 routing over South Carolina State at Littlejohn Coliseum.
       The Bulldogs dropped its sixth-straight contest falling to 4-9 on the season, while the Tigers improved to 7-4 overall.
        South Carolina State was led by junior center Matthew Hezekiah with 14 points and seven rebounds, while teammate freshman Shaquiell Mitchell chipped in 11 in the loss.
       The Bulldogs jumped out to an 11-8 advantage off a jumper by junior center Matthew Hezekiah (6-11, 235) at the 12:06 mark. Senior center Devin Booker (6-8, 250) closed the gap for the Tigers with a layup to tie the game 13-13 with 9:52 remaining in the first-half.
        Turnovers hurt SC State down the stretch with Clemson sparking a 19-3 run to extend the lead to 16,  32-16 off a layup by sophomore guard Rod Hall with 3:29 left in the half.  A thunder reverse alley-hoop dunk by sophomore forward K. J. McDaniel (6-6, 200) from guard Rod Hall (6-1, 210) put Clemson ahead 36-18 at the half.
        The Tigers ended the first-half on a 21-2 run, with the Bulldogs posting 13 costly turnovers.
       Clemson controlled the second-half nailing back-to-back 3-pointers by McDaniel's and Jennings to extend the lead to 24, 44-20 at the 18:24 mark. Freshman forward Josh Smith gave the Tigers light on a breakaway dunk to push the lead to 34, 67-33 with 6:09 remaining in regulation.
        Harrison sealed the deal nailing a 3-pointer followed by a jumper with 3:13 remaining to give Clemson a favorably 37-point lead, 74-37. The Tigers held on to defeat the Bulldogs 77-41 at Littlejohn Coliseum.
        Senior center Devin Booker tossed in 11 points and finished with a team-high seven rebounds, while sophomore forward K.J. McDaniel's added 10 in the victory. Freshman Darryl Palmer finished with a game-high nine rebounds and seven points on the day.
         South Carolina State will take a break and return to action on January 5, when they face intrastate rival University of South Carolina in a non-conference matchup in Columbia, SC. Tip-off is 1:30 p.m.
