NORFOLK, VA--- The No. 5 seed South Carolina State Bulldogs will square off with No.4 seed Norfolk State Thursday (March. 12) in the quarterfinal round of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Basketball Tournament inside the Scope Arena.
Tipoff time is 6:00 p.m. and the game will be televised live on ESPN+.The game will be a rematch of last year's tournament championship game.
The two teams met during the regular season with Norfolk State taking both games in an 89-82 victory on Jan. 17th in Orangeburg, SC and a 90-71 win on Feb. 21st in Norfolk, VA.
In postseason honors, Freshman guard Noah Treadwell was named MEAC Rookie of the Year and was also named to the MEAC All-Rookie team, while teammate sophomore guard Jayden Johnson was selected Second Team All-MEAC.
Jayden leads the way for the Bulldogs in scoring with 13.0 points and 2.8 rebounds, while Treadwell is 3rd in scoring with 9.3 points and 67 3-pointers made on the season.
The Spartans (15-18) are led by Anthony McComb III with 17 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
The MEAC Basketball Tournament is a single-elimination event featuring both the conference's men's and women's teams. Quarterfinal and semifinal games will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
The men's championship game will tip off at 1 p.m. and air live on ESPN2. The women's championship game will follow at 4 p.m. and will air live on ESPNews.
