SC State Athletics Announces Staff Promotions

ORANGEBURG, S.C. — South Carolina State University Athletics has announced the promotions of Melissa Paige to associate athletics director for administration and senior woman administrator, Chymaine
Guinyard to interim head women's volleyball coach and Dominique Bartley to assistant director of marketing and fan engagement.

The promotions strengthen the department's administrative, coaching and external operations while recognizing the experience and contributions of each staff member.

Melissa Paige — Associate Athletics Director for Administration/Senior Woman Administrator
Paige will serve as an administrator for South Carolina State's women's sports programs while assuming the role of senior woman administrator for the Department of Athletics.Prior to her appointment, Paige served three seasons as head women's volleyball coach at SC State. She brings 15 years of coaching experience, including eight seasons as a head coach.A Tallahassee, Florida, native, Paige is no stranger to Orangeburg or South Carolina State. She was a standout volleyball player for the Bulldogs from 2009-11 and ranks second in program history in digs.Paige was a member of the 2010 SC State volleyball team that captured the program's second Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship and earned a berth in the NCAA Volleyball Championship. Paige and her teammates from the championship squad were inducted into the SC State Athletic Hall of Fame in 2021 as members of the Class of 2020.

Chymaine Guinyard — Interim Head Women's Volleyball Coach
After spending two seasons on Paige's staff, Guinyard has been elevated to interim head coach of the SC State women's volleyball program. Guinyard brings head coaching experience at both the collegiate and high school levels. Before joining SC State, she served as head women's volleyball coach at Fort Valley State University, where she guided the Wildcats to a third-place finish in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division and the program's first SIAC Tournament appearance since 2008. Prior to Fort Valley State, Guinyard spent four seasons as head coach at Claflin University after previously serving as an assistant coach during the 2017-18 season and interim head coach in 2019. Guinyard began her head coaching career at Calhoun County High School in St. Matthews, South Carolina, where she led the program to the Class 2A state playoffs in her lone season.

Dominique Bartley — Assistant Director of Marketing and Fan Engagement
Bartley has been promoted to assistant director of marketing and fan engagement, where she will coordinate game-day promotions and presentation while developing fan engagement strategies across South Carolina State's athletic programs. Her responsibilities include supporting digital and social media campaigns, assisting with special events and developing initiatives designed to strengthen connections among student-athletes, alumni, fans and the campus community. Prior to assuming her new role, Bartley served as executive assistant to the athletics director at South Carolina State. In that position, she managed executive operations, coordinated departmental initiatives and supported the strategic priorities of the Department of Athletics.

The three promotions reflect South Carolina State Athletics' continued commitment to developing leadership within the department while enhancing the student-athlete and fan experience.
