ORANGEBURG, S.C. — South Carolina State University will celebrate the rich tradition and legacy of Bulldog Athletics during the 2026 South Carolina State University Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, at the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center on the University's campus. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. cocktail hour and dinner, followed by the Hall of Fame induction ceremony at 6:45 p.m.
The annual event recognizes former student-athletes, coaches, administrators and supporters whose achievements and contributions have left a lasting impact on South Carolina State Athletics. Alumni, supporters and friends of Bulldog Athletics are encouraged to attend and celebrate this distinguished class of inductees.
The class includes football standouts John Courtney (DL 1978-1982), Leonard Duncan (DB/KR 1973-1976), Charles Glaze (QB 1983-1986), Tyler McDonald (WR 2010-2013), Walter Mitchell (DL 1965-1969), Damien Moses (DL 1988-1992); Chris Ragland (RB 1976-1980), and Robert "Mickey" Sims (DL 1973-1976). Duncan, Moses, and Sims are being inducted posthumously.
Also to be enshrined are basketball players Bernard Bowman (G 1984-1988) and Ralph Miller (G 1982-1985); Maria Craciun (tennis 2010-2013), Charles "Chuck" Gadsden (baseball 1970-1972), Douglas Grier (golf 1974-1978), John Hinson (track & field 1978-1982), and James H. Salley PA Announcer/TV Show host (1980-1990/1994-1990. Grier is being enshrined posthumously.
