CHARLESTON, SC— For the first time in 21-years the South Carolina State softball team knocked off Charleston Southern 3-2, 7-2 in non-conference action Wednesday (April. 8) inside CSU Softball Complex.
South Carolina State improves to 15-13 overall, 8-3 in the MEAC with the win. The last time SCSU defeated CSU was April 19, 2005, 4-1 in Orangeburg, SC.
How It Happened :
Game 1: The Lady Bulldogs finished as a team with three (3) runs; eight (8) hits, three (3) RBI's, one (1) double and triple, with 28 at bats to take a 3-2 win.
Game 2: SCSU took complete control in the 7-2-win finishing with seven (7) runs, 12 hits, seven (7) RBI's, a pair of doubles and one (1) triple with 32 at bats.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State will host visiting Maryland Eastern Shore in a three-game Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference series over the weekend, beginning Saturday (April 11) with a doubleheader at 1 p.m., followed by the second in a 2 p.m. start. Both teams will close out the series on Sunday (April. 12) in a 12-noon showdown inside Lady Bulldog Softball Field.
