Softball Captures 2-1 MEAC Series Win Over UMES

ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State softball team captured another series with an 2-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) win over Maryland Eastern Shore over the weekend inside the Lady Bulldog Softball Field.
 
South Carolina State improved to 17-14 overall, 10-5 in the MEAC and is currently in 2nd place in league standings behind top-ranked Howard.
 
HOW IT HAPPENDED:
GAME 1: SCSU as a team scored five (5) runs along with, eight (8) hits, five (5) RBI's a double, a triple and a homerun.
GAME 2: The Lady Bulldogs as a team finished with eight (8) hits, eight (8) runs, six (6) RBIs, and two (3) triples in the win.
GAME 3: SC State came up short only managing eight (8) hits and pair of doubles in the loss.
 
ON THE MOUND: Pitcher of the week: #20 Dymond Roundtree 
Helped lead South Carolina State to a doubleheader win over Charleston Southern with wins of 3-2 and 7-2 for the first time in 21-years. Also, over the weekend helped lead SC State to an 2-1 league series win over UMES. She posted a win in GAME 1 versus CSU with 0 Earned Runs only allowed two (2) hits with an S-ERA of 4.78. In Game 2 versus UMES only two earned runs with five (5) strikeouts and a S-ERA of 4.49. The Lady Bulldogs finished 4-1 this week.
 
NEXT UP: SC State closed out non-conference play versus Johnson C. Smith Thursday (April. 16) at home in doubleheader action, beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by a 3:00 p.m. start inside Lady Bulldog Softball Field.
