DURHAM, NC—The South Carolina State softball team closed a 2-1 Mid-Eastern Series win over North Carolina Central this weekend inside Thomas Brooks Park.
South Carolina State improved to20-19 overall, 12-9 in the MEAC, and is currently tied for 3
rd place in the league standings.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1: SC State amassed a game-high 17 runs with 14 hits, 13 RBI's five (5) doubles, one (1) triple in the win.
Kylie Nelson finished with team-high three (3) runs scored, two (2) hits, three (3) RBI's and two (2) doubles.
Game 2: The Lady Bulldogs posted 10 runs and 12 hits along with two (2) doubles, two (2) triples and one (1) homerun in the 10-1 win over the Eagles.
Lashea Morlu tabbed in at two (2) runs and three (3) hits, along with one (1) RBI and one (1) double in the win on the day.
Game 3: SCSU dropped a tough 7-10 defeat to NC Central in the final game of the series. As a team the Lady Bulldogs finished with seven (7) runs, 13 hits, four (4) RBI's, and one (1) double in the loss.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State will wrap up regular season play versus SEC foe South Carolina on Tuesday (April. 28) in Columbia, SC in a 6:00 p.m. start.
