Softball Powers Over Benedict In Non-Conference Wins

ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State softball team extended their winning streak to eight (8) straight with impressive non-conference wins over intrastate rival Benedict 11-0 in game one and 22-5 in game two inside Tiger Softball Field Wednesday (March.25).

South Carolina State improves to 11-8 overall, 6-0 in the MEAC and is currently in first place in league standings. As a team SCSU powered its way to five homeruns on the day between both games.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Jamaria Charley posted a solid day hitting with four (4) runs, four (4) hits, two (2) RBI's and a homerun.  
  • Ava Joshua connected 3-of-4 at the plate with five (5) RBI's and two (2) homeruns with a batting average of .267 in game two.
  • Ellanie Yarrell finished with four (4) hits, three (3) runs, five (5) RBI's and a homerun.
  • Mikenna Williams hit 4-of-4 from the plate with four (4) runs and three (3) RBI's.
  • Freshman Dallas Hill had three (3) hits, four (4) RBI's and two (2) doubles along with capturing a win on the mound as a pitcher only allowed three (3) runs and two (2) hits.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State returns to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play versus defending league champion and top-ranked Howard over the weekend in Washington, DC.
