BALTIMORE, MD— The South Carolina State softball team improved to 6-0 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play after a series sweep over Coppin State over the weekend inside the Coppin State Softball Complex.
The Lady Bulldogs (9-8 overall, 6-0 MEAC) posted wins of 6-3 (Game 1), 9-3 (Game 2) and 8-5 victory in Game 3 to complete the series sweep.
INSIDE LOOK: LaShea Morlu in the series Morlu had another great offensive performance connecting 7-of-12 overall from the plate along with a triple, two (2) runs scored and three (3) runs batted in, four (4) RBI's along with a homerun and batting average of .511. Help lead South Carolina State to its best start in over decade with back-to-back series wins with a 3-0 sweep over Coppin State this week.
Jamaria Charley in the series connected 5-of-9 from the plate along with two (2) RBI's a double, a triple and a stolen base. ON THE MOUND: Ciara Farrar pitched a complete game in 9-3 series win over Coppin State in game 2. Only allowed four (4) hits and three (3) scored with a saved era of 3.21. Also came in as a relief pitcher to help secure the win and lead South Carolina State to its best start in over decade with back-to-back series wins with a 3-0 sweep over Coppin State this week. |

ROOKIE SPOTLIGHT: Lanasia Sanders the freshman posted a solid performance during the series connecting on 4-of-7 at the plate, a RBI, a run batted in, and a run scored. Closed out the series with a perfect fielding percentage in the outfield to help secure the series win and lead South Carolina State to its best start in over decade with back-to-back series wins with a 3-0 sweep over Coppin State this week.
