ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State women's soccer team dropped an hard fought battle at home Monday (Aug.25) in an 2-1 decision to visiting Stetson inside O.C. Dawson Stadium on Willie Jeffries Field.
SCSU fall is 1-2 on the season, while Stetson improves to 2-1.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a goal by
Karla Gordon with an assist by Shanniela Schliffer at the 55:01 mark. The Hatters responded to tie the game 1-1 off a goal by Jessica Howard assisted by Brooke Voorhees and Bianca Mazzaferro.
Late in the second half Stetso Huffman scored the winning goal at the 79:25 mark assisted by Stella Comana and Payton Quinones.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State returns to action Thursday (Aug. 28) at home versus intrastate foe The Citadel in a pivotal showdown inside Oliver. C. Dawson Stadium on Willie Jeffries Field. First kick is 6:00 pm.
