ORANGEBURG--SC—The South Carolina State women's soccer team dropped a tough 2-1 defeat in their home-opener Sunday (Aug.17) versus Presbyterian College inside Oliver. C. Dawson Stadium on Willie Jeffries Field.
The Lady Bulldogs (0-1) played lights out on defense throughout in first-year head coach Andrew Richardson home debut.
SCSU got on the board first jumping out to an 1-0 advantage off a goal by
Kayla Moses at the 4:49 mark in the first half. PC tied the game 1-1 off a goal by Harian Lyons at the 26:36 mark.
A defensive battle on both sides held each team scoreless throughout the second half until Emma Brown punched in what would me the game winner at the 86:44 mark to lift the Blue Hose to an 2-1 victory over the Lady Bulldogs.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State returns to action Friday (Aug.22) at home versus Alabama State in a 6:00 p.m. start at Oliver. C. Dawson Stadium inside Willie Jeffries Field.
