ORANGEBURG, SC—South Carolina State closed out a three-game series with a 3-2 win over visiting Coppin State Sunday (April.8) inside Lady Bulldog Softball Field.
South Carolina State improved to 9-16 overall, 5-7 in the MEAC with the sweep.
In the first inning the Lady Bulldogs jumped out to an 3-0 lead off a Taylor Ames- singled, bunt, RBI; Kaylah Lesli advanced to third; Jamaria Char scored to make to score 1-0.
Taylor Ames then advanced to second, advanced to third on the throw; Kaylah Lesli scored on the throw to give SCSU an 2-0 advantage.
Kylie Nelson flied out to lf, RBI; Taylor Ames- scored to push the lead to 3-0.
Coppin State scored two unanswered runs late in the 6
th to cut the lead to 3-2 but the Lady Bulldogs secured the victory to take an 3-0 lead in the series.
