ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State track and field teams' return to the historic Morehouse Relays in Atlanta Mar. 27-29 after a long hiatus was productive as the men and women combined to record five first place showings, seven runner-ups, and a total of 26 Top 5 finishes.

The SC State men accounted for four wins, three seconds and 13 Top 5 showings, while the women captured one first, four seconds and 13 Top 5 finishes also.

Producing firsts for Coach Donald Cooper teams were Martin Hare, Jr. in the hammer throw (41.13m), Mason Miles in the shot put (13.80m), the sprint medley relay team (3:28.42), the 4x200m relay team (1:26.27), and Areyanna Scott in the women's javelin (40.36m).

Recording runner-up finishes were Jyirre Edwards in the decathlon (4430 pts.), Alexander Hollimon in the 110m hurdles (14.52), the 4x400m relay team (3:13.02), TyQwasia Williams in the 400m hurdles (1:03.55), Azaiyah Phillips in the heptathlon (3142 pts.), the women's sprint medley relay team (4:27.98) and the women's 4x200m relay squad (1:40.96).

The SC State men finished third (114 pts.) in the seven-team field's team standings, behind host Morehouse (194.5 pts.) and Albany State (139 pts.), while the women were fourth (103 pts.) behind first-place Clark Atlanta (208), Tennessee State (146) and Albany State (103).

South Carolina State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level intercollegiate athletic program.
