DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—The South Carolina State track and field teams posted a strong performance over a three-day event at the Embry-Riddle Classic.
"We had a great outing down at Embry-Riddle Classic, it's always run an awesome meet," said head coach Donald Cooper. We had a lot of positive progression this weekend on both the men's and women's team."
Thirteen (13) performers on the men side including five (5) on the women's set personal records (PRs) for Coach Cooper's team.
Top performers included junior Tinashe Bure, with a new school record and a #1 ranking in the MEAC in the 1500m (3:48.96); freshman,
Rodney Dewitt, had a huge PR of 49'5.5 in the triple jump ranking him #2nd in the MEAC; junior,
Jacob Alexander in his 400h debut moving down from the 800m ran a 53.27 ranking him #3rd in the MEAC.
The meet was the third of the outdoor season for SC State, which participated in the Morehouse Relays in their last outing with
Tajhana South winning the Triple Jump with a MEAC lead, 41'5.25 and
Sydney Cooper also captured the Heptathlon with a PR and MEAC lead of 4,125 points and a PR in the Hight Jump.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State headed to Tampa, Florida to compete in the USF "South Florida International" Saturday, April 11- Sunday April 12
th.
