NORFOLK, Va., – South Carolina State men's basketball team was picked to finish 5
th in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Basketball Preseason poll, presented by Nike.
All awards were voted on by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors.
Defending MEAC champion Howard picked up 12 first-place votes in being named the preseason favorite, while the Spartans of Norfolk State were picked to finish second receiving three first-place votes. North Carolina Central and Morgan State were picked to finish third and fourth, respectively.
South Carolina State and Delaware State tied for fifth, with Maryland Eastern Shore and Coppin State rounding out the predicted order of finish.
Sophomore guard
Mitchell Taylor was selected to the Second Team, while graduate guard
Omar Croskey was named to the Third Team respectively.
Taylor (6-3, 185-Guard, Atlanta, GA) led the team in scoring last season at 8.5 ppg and 2.9 rebounds, while appearing in 31 contests with 17 starts and 20.2 minutes played for the Bulldogs.
Croskey (6-6, 190-Guard/Forward, Sumter, SC) finished 3
rd on the team in scoring at 7.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg, while appearing in 31 contests with 25 starts and 18.7 minutes played for the Bulldogs.
The 2025 MEAC Basketball Tournament will be held March 12-15 at the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va.
