ORANGEBURG, SC—Eight different lead changes down the stretch, lifted visiting Maryland-Eastern Shore to a close, 76-70, victory over South Carolina State Saturday (Jan.23
rd) in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
South Carolina State falls 3-17 overall, 0-4 in the MEAC, while UMES improves to 10-8 overall, 3-1 in the league.
Rakeim Gary finished with 14 points, while teammate
Cameron Jones added 11 for the Bulldogs in the loss.
Maryland-Eastern Shore was led by Kevon Voyles with a game-high 27 points and seven rebounds, while Zion Styles added 15.
Despite the loss, South Carolina State led in several categories including points off turnovers (24-22), 2
nd chance points (6-5), and bench points (34-9 ).
Shaman Alston and
Rahsaan Edwards each added 8 points in the loss.
NEXT UP: The Bulldogs continue league play on Monday, Jan. 23rd against Delaware State in a 7:30 p.m. start.
