ORANGEBURG, SC – Following an 11-day layoff, the South Carolina State women's basketball team will return to action Wednesday with two games in three days (Dec. 19-21) at the Philanthropist.com Carolinas Basketball Classic at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
The Lady Bulldogs, 6-5, will meet Wake Forest on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., before taking on East Carolina Friday at 6:30 p.m. SC State last played on Dec. 8, when Coach Audra Smith's team earned a 58-49 home win over the Lady Rebels of UNLV.
SC State is one of eight college teams playing in the event, which is being held in conjunction with the CresComBank Holiday Invitational for girls, the sister event to the popular Beach Ball Classic for boys held annually at Myrtle Beach.
Other college teams participating include Auburn, Coastal Carolina, Longwood, North Carolina and Rice.
The girls' competition will be played in the mornings and afternoons, with the college women games set for the evenings each day.
Admission is $5 a day for the girls' games and $10 per day for the college contests.
