ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State women open Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play Wednesday when the Lady Bulldogs travel to Daytona Beach for an encounter against Bethune-Cookman in the first game of a league double header beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Bulldogs (5-7, 0-0) will be seeking to get back on the winning track against the Lady Wildcats (8-4, 0-0).
Coach Doug Robertson's team – after leveling its record at 5-5 with an 86-40 win at Johnson and Wales Dec. 21 – have dropped its last two contests: 64-49 at Charlotte Dec. 28 and 52-35 at Old Dominion Dec. 30.
The Lady Bulldogs, who played their last two games with just nine players due to injuries, will have sophomore starting guard

Bryeasha Blair leads the SC State women (12.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.2 apg). She is supported by junior forward/guard Kyeshia Lewis (10.7 ppg, 3.9 rpg), the top three-point shooter (20-46, .435 pct.), and junior guard Kemoni Jenkins (10.3 ppg, 4.7 rpg), the team's leader in steals with 24.
Bethune-Cookman, which dropped a 85-39 decision at Miami (FL) in its last outing Dec. 28, is spearheaded by Angela Golden (13.3 ppg, 3.1 rpg), Chasimmie Brown (11 ppg, 6.1 rpg) and Ashanti Hunt (9.3 ppg, 8.2 rpg).
