ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State women will resume their 2017-2018 basketball schedule Thursday when they travel to Charlotte to take on the Charlotte 49ers in a 7 p.m. nonconference contest at Halton Arena.
Thursday's contest will be the second of two in three days for the Lady Bulldogs who will meet Old Dominion at Norfolk, VA on Saturday (Dec. 30) at 2 p.m.
SCSU, 5-5, last played Dec. 21 at Charlotte where they downed Johnson and Wales (NC) 86-40. Charlotte, 3-8, also saw its latest action Dec. 21 at Davidson where the 49ers lost 68-66.
Graduate student
Bryeasha Blair, one of three Lady Bulldogs in double figures, is averaging 12.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists, to lead Coach Doug Robertson's team. Kemoni Jenkins, a junior, is contributing 10.9 points, 4.9 boards and a team-leading 23 steals; while Kyesha Lewis, another junior, is averaging 10.2 points and 3.8 rebounds and leads the team in three-point shooting (17-41).
Junior Jasmine Williams is the top rebounder for SC State with 7.0 per game, to go along with 4.6 points per outing.
Charlotte, which is looking to snap a three-game slide, is paced by junior Laia Raventos (14.3 ppg., 4.4 rpg), senior Amaya Ransom (13.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg) and redshirt sophomore Dara Pearson (8.9 rpg, 4.3 ppg).
