Box Score COLUMBIA, SC – All eleven (11) players on the South Carolina State roster scored Tuesday night as the Lady Bulldogs earned an 82-38 win over an overmatched Columbia International University team which had only five players available.
Esther Udonsi and Kemoni Jenkins had 11 points each for SC State, which improved to 2-3 on the season.
Bryeasha Blair added 11 points, Jasmine Williams, Kira Bell and Dashinique Peterson eight each, Kyesha Lewis and Jaquanna Murray seven each,
Chantel Williams four, and Kerry Watson and Regina Garret two each in the win.
"It's a rarity when everyone on your roster scores but we had a big advantage and were supposed to win easily," noted Lady Bulldog head coach Doug Robertson. "We can out lackadaisical and didn't show much intensity early but after a talk to start the second quarter, we began to play much better and took control of the contest.
"But, we have to play much better and show more consistency if we are to get a win against much tougher opponents, including USC-UpState (whom the Lady Bulldogs play Dec. 9 on the road)."
Udonsi had 10 first-half points, five in each quarter, to stake the Lady Bulldogs to a 37-18 halftime lead, but Robertson's team led just 15-10 after the opening quarter. SC State started the second stanza with a 10-1 run to build a 25-11 lead on a layup by Jenkins.
The host Rams got the next five points, all by Frasier, to pull to within 25-16 before the Lady Bulldogs closed out the period with a 12-2 spree for their 19-point halftime margin.
Despite Robertson playing his entire roster, SC State continued to outdistance the host, which was outscored 24-8 in the third period which ended with SC State ahead 61-26. SC State outscored the Rams 21-12 in the final period.
CIU, an NAIA member, was led by Seimone Frasier with 13 points and Zeleria Simpson and Raven Fleming with 12 each in the loss, their seventh in as many outings.
